Job Related Amnesia

Hola Family, Friends and those I haven’t met yet

My mom wanted me to say something about my time in Florida so far.

Well, it’s hot and humid and it rains and then there’s tons of pollen flying all around and it settles on the end of my nose.  There are leapin’ lizards and a frog that hangs around the back door and stick to the windows and a big black grasshopper with a yellow stripe that sloooooowly ambles around the backyard area.  There’s lots of traffic (though I bet my friends Miriam and Martin have it way worse in L.A.).  The DMV here doesn’t call themselves “DMV” but something like “The Tax Collector” which –in my opinion– is the dumbest thing in the world especially if you’re trying to find the DMV and there are no signs that read “DMV” except for a “Tax Collector” sign and when I ask the DMV staff why they don’t have at least ONE sign to let drivers know how to find the DMV — the DMV staff blankly stare back at me.  Go figure.

I’ve been to a couple libraries and went to a couple Writer’s Group meetings which are held once a month at the library.

I’ve seen the laundromat (when our washing machine was being fixed), Barnes & Noble, the Publix supermarket, Michaels (for cartoon supplies), Walmart, Goodwill (got a book on labradors as reference for my Spaghetti cartoons yesterday), Home Depot (for plants).

Speaking of plants: My mom has a great garden which she works hard at to maintain with lots of cool flowers.  I got to water it the other day.

My dad cooks amazing dinners and I like to do dishes to help out my family.  I have lots of experience washing dishes by hand having worked as a dishwasher when I first moved to California and let me tell you that on a Sunday afternoon when the tourists come piling into the restaurant there are like THOUSANDS of dirty dishes to wash — and trust me — you get good at washing dishes.

It’s been awesome having lots of time for cartooning.

But really the best part of Florida is being with my mom, dad and sister again.

I hope everyone has a great Friday — and that you don’t make the same mistake Melvin did.

And until mañana . . .

“No rulers were harmed during the making of this cartoon.”

“Let’s still be careful out there.”
