Hola Early Birds
Feels like I just saw you all a few hours ago.
I wanted to make sure I sent this essential cartoon out ASAP — because it’s dedicated to all our moms out there.
And especially to my mom, who definitely had her hands full raising me. Thanks, mom, for all of your love, care, support and continued presence in my life. As well as your wisdom, tenacity, humor and foresight. Not only does she take care of me and my sister, but also cats, dogs, goats, squirrels, lizards, butterflies, plants, flowers, as she has a huge heart for all of God’s creatures. (She leaves corn out every morning for our squirrel neighbors. And, while living in Argentina, she told me stories about making homemade meatballs to feed the hungry dogs on the street. Funny story: My dad comes home one day, smells the meatballs cooking, and she tells him the meatballs aren’t for him — she’s cooking them for the street dogs.)
My mom is also wonderfully creative: poet, writer, photographer, frame maker, artist — she’s even a cartoonist. She’s got lots of cool projects. She’s helped my dad with his 3 books. She continues to go above and beyond for our family. And my wish for her is that she gets back to some of her own creative projects, as I know they give her joy. And we’re here to help you too, mom!
I love you, mom. Happy Mother’s Day!
Have a great day, everyone.
Until mañana . . .
Bring on the spiders!
