Hola Friends & Family
I hope everyone is down-to-earth and not up-in-the-air.
Today’s Essential Cartoon momentarily steps back from our problematic pandemic. It’s a quiet, reflective piece. Nothing to get too burned up about.
I’ve learned that my cartoon dialogue or captions do best if they sit for a day or two, maybe to gel like jello, or pull-together like a vegetable stew. This gives me a chance to rethink certain word choices–maybe adding or subtracting to get the best, most streamlined effect. It’s actually a little like writing a Haiku poem, not too much, not too little, just enough to sell it. After completing this cartoon at 11:30 last night, I realized I could have re-shuffled the sentences around for a better punchline impact. But alas, my deadline was up, so here’s another cartoon in the bag.
I wish everyone a safe, healthy, happy, and streamlined day.
