Hola Family, Friends and those I haven’t met yet
Speed lines.
What are they?
Cartoonists and comic book artists may choose to use speed lines to show movement. These might be a few curved lines drawn near an object in motion, like a ball, a bat, or a person’s arm. Since the drawn image is stagnant, speed lines are supposed to help the reader envision or feel the action, make something appear kinetic. Some artists don’t like speed lines, possibly seeing it as “an easy way out.”
Those lines and marks around the broom and Melvin’s arms in today’s cartoon? Those are my attempts at speed lines.
Have a great day everyone.
Until mañana. . .
