Hola Night Owls & Early Birds
Other than alligators here in Florida, we have tornadoes, too! Thanks mom for the early morning warning. Luckily nothing happened.
My new cartooning schedule has been to get up and write down a number of cartoon ideas. It’s sort of like the “Get up and write 3 pages a day” that writers are encouraged to do. Then I focus on a few ideas, rough out the dialogue, draw some simple compositions of how they might appear. These I’ll come back to over the next couple days and fine-tune the word choices.
Later in the day my new goal has been to complete 2 spider cartoons, drawn, lettered, inked, erased, and then shaded. I want to see what a professional cartoonist’s daily schedule might look like, and if I can manage it. I am also beginning to plan out a week’s worth of material in advance so I know exactly where I’m going. When I was doing my cartoon-a-day challenge last year, it was mostly flying blind–and by the seat of my pants.
