Hola Night OwlZ and Early BirdZ
Tonight’s Essential Cartoon kicks off a month long experiment.
For a while now I’d been wanting to do a series focusing on a couple recurring characters. I wanted it to be a cartoon that was simple enough, so that I could complete each installment without a lot of worry, stress and midnight runs. Recently, I discovered that the 3-panel format is really a blast. After drawing the cartoon starring the dog and his owner this past Friday, my mind churned with a life of its own all day Saturday, coming up with other cartoon ideas for them. It also seemed like wherever I went that day, dogs were coming out of the woodwork.
So I said, why not? Let’s explore these characters. Let’s give them a shot at life. I’ve already written out 10 cartoons, which says to me they’ve got some milage. I grew up reading Snoopy, Marmaduke, and recently my sister really got me into a great series called Mutts! Animals are awesome. We love our animals. I know I miss the animals I grew up and spent time with.
I hope you enjoy the experimental ride. I may drop an Our Absurd Life cartoon down into the mix once in a while, but we’ll see.
Oh, and the name of this new cartoon series is “Spaghetti.”
Which I’ve decided is a great name for the dog.
And let me know your thoughts as we go along. Thanks.
Until mañana + 1 . . .
