Tonight’s Essential Cartoon expands my skills at dialog placement. It’s a challenge to fill a page with dialog in such a way that the reader’s eye can easily track it from the top of the page to the bottom. Definitely an art one finds in the world of comic books.
Speaking of comic books, as a gift to myself for completing a year’s worth of daily cartoons, I splurged on a Spider-Man comic that I wanted to buy as a kid, but could never afford. Of course the price has gotten much steeper over the years. But it seemed the right thing to do — circle back to that young person who used sit in bed at night, reading the Mile High Comics catalog, making a list of comics he wanted to one day own.
Man, it’s getting late again.
Until mañana plus a day . . .
Humor abounds. (And Spider-Man swings from the roof tops.)
