Tonight’s Essential Cartoon presents Day 2 of Dog & Cat Week, with the canines performing a sneak attack move.
It’s also a purely silly cartoon with emphasis on PURE.
Tonight’s cartoon posed some drawing challenges depicting 2 levels of perspective: close-up and middle-ground. I’d learned that when drawing objects that are closer, to make them darker and with thicker lines. The objects further away would be lighter and with thinner lines. This helps build the illusion of distance. I also added in details like a base-board, wallpaper and a window sill to make the 2 areas look different. Another cheat is to place the object that is further away up higher on the page.
