Our Absurd Life: 12/18/20 – Look to the Skies

Look to the Skies

Hola Night Owls

I hope everyone has had a tip-top day, and not a topsy-turvy one.

Tonight’s Essential Cartoon echoes the Sci-Fi B movies from back in the day, when one could see the strings holding up the miniatures or the zipper down the back of the gorilla monster costume.  One of my favorites, which was actually an extremely good movie in my opinion, was the original “The Thing” from 1951 directed by Howard Hawks.  Not necessarily a Christmas movie, but it’s got lots and lots of snow!  And, side note, The Thing was originally based on a short story titled “Who Goes There?” by John W. Campbell under the pen name Don A. Stuart.  It was a novella first published in 1938.  I remember getting assigned to read it back in High School.  No wonder I’m. . . a bubble off plumb.

I wish everyone a safe, restful rest of your evening.

Until tomorrow . . .

Enjoy!
