Hola Night Owls
I hope everyone has had a relaxing day. Who knows what this upcoming week is going to be like. I wish us all the best.
Tonight’s Essential Cartoon brings back Blair and his best friend Ron. For those new to the series, Blair was born with razor sharp metal teeth. The bullies at school make fun of him, calling him “Beartrap,” hence the title of the cartoon, “Beware of Beartrap.”
What always appealed to me about Calvin & Hobbes was their intellectual conversations–and, of course, the adventures they had together. The Peanuts cartoon may have started the “young person as philosopher” tradition. I just learned recently that the title Peanuts was not Charles Schultz’ choice and he never liked it–it had been imposed on him when his cartoon went into syndication.
I wish everyone a restful rest of your night. You too, Charles, wherever you’re drawing now. And thank you for all of your wonderful characters and cartoons.
Until tomorrow. . .
Enjoy!

“No rulers were harmed during the making of this cartoon.”
“Let’s still be careful out there.”
