Our Absurd Life: 10/17/20 – ‘Toonist on Trial

‘Toonist on Trial

Hola Friends & Family

I hope everyone had an enjoyable day.

Tonight’s Essential Cartoon spotlights cartoonists again in another farcical way.

Speaking of farces, I’ve always loved them, and if well written and acted with precise timing–there is no healthier energy boosting, laugh-inducing experience out there.  I had the opportunity of directing a couple of farces about 15 years ago in a small Northern California community theater playhouse.  Due to the nature of the theatrical work they were both extremely complicated and took tons of rehearsals, but the final product was awesome and hilarious.  If you are looking for a farce-type movie, then “Noises Off” starring Michael Caine would be a suggestion.  The English comedy TV show Fawlty Towers is also a great example of the farce, but  elements of the series and the character portrayals, in particular Manuel, may prove offensive.

And with that I wish you all adieu.  Not a Mountain Dew, so no sneaking off to the fridge for a late night soda.

Until tomorrow. . .

Enjoy!

P.S.

“No rulers were harmed during the making of this cartoon.”

“Let’s still be careful out there.”
