Hola Family & Friends
I hope all had a nice day. It was hot in South County. But this might be Summer’s last hurrah before Fall falls. It’s already falling in our front yard. A regular leaf raker’s nightmare.
Speaking of nightmares, I believe I goofed up yesterday’s cartoon. Instead of “Cartoonists never sleep. They lay dormant.” It should have been written as “They lie dormant.” Even though I thought I had checked beforehand, I got a gentle nudge from my friend Miriam in an email that suggested it was supposed to be “lie.”
She also pointed out that the word dormant comes from the French word dormir, which means to sleep.
Luckily I have an electric eraser I had bought during Christmas while visiting my sister, Ana V.
Thanks Miriam. Thanks Ana.
Tonight’s Essential Cartoon showcases The Big Cheese in charge. No, not the Prez, but the Numero Uno Big Cheese. And I’m not talking about McDonalds either.
I wish everyone a restful rest of your evening. And when you Lay down to sleep, you will Lie in your bed. Unless you’re a vampire, then you’ll lie dormant in your coffin.
Until tomorrow. . .
Enjoy!

Salinas!
P.S.
“No rulers were harmed during the making of this cartoon.”
“Let’s still be careful out there.”
