Hola Family & Friends
I hope everyone has had a splendid day. As well as spell-corrected, on point, and preferably not mis-matched. (I do my best to remain spell-corrected, but mis-matched is still a problem.)
Speaking of mis-matched, tonight’s Essential Cartoon may draw a few upraised eyebrows thinking that Ian has lost his delicate sensibilities. During my run since May of this year, I have lost about 5 subscribers. 2 of them were very thankful for all of my cartoons and daily emails, but asked to be taken off my list as their own lives were getting busier again. 3 of the subscribers simply wrote, “Take me off of your subscription list.” I will tell you it felt odd. It may have been that the subject matter–people peeking through holes in the wall, or decaying skeletons– turned them off. I don’t know. But I did begin to judge my own self wondering what I had done wrong. I still receive a lot of great support, thanking me, or telling me that they liked a particular cartoon, or that they see my art improving. That means a lot. So thank you all for your encouraging words.
So if anyone does request to be taken off the list, let me know the reason. I believe it would help me better understand my audience. I can’t please everyone–but it can help me become a more conscious creator.
With that being said, I thank you all again for being an integral part of my active creative life, because you help keep me accountable and pushing forward with an artistic goal that I’ve had since I was a child. ‘Cuz if it were up to me–I’d probably say, “Ahhh, the heck with it, I’ll do it tomorrow.”
I wish everyone a restful rest of your evening.
Enjoy!

P.S.
“No rulers were harmed during the making of this cartoon.”
“Let’s still be careful out there.”
