Our Absurd Life: 08/10/20 – Unexpected Visitor

Unexpected Visitor

Hola Friends and Family,

I hope everyone has had a great day.  Mine went better than expected, which I am grateful.

Today’s Essential Cartoon came about as a result of reading a 1st draft blog entry about death written by my friend Art.  I’m not sure if the cartoon will be useable for his needs, but I actually enjoyed working on it and have some follow up ideas for the future.

I’m also trying to expand what I include in my cartoons.  There seems to be a balance of too much and just enough to set the cartoon scene and play it out.  As my own art skills improve, I feel a little more courageous with each cartoon.  The past 2 cartoons have taken place inside a house, possibly a living room, and I’m having fun experimenting with what I can add to bring the scene to the next level of life.  It also forces me to actually look around and take notice where a door knob gets placed on a door, or what a bureau really looks like, and especially the stuff we humans keep on top of our bureaus and end tables.

It seems observation is part of the key to any kind of creation.

I wish everyone a safe, healthy, and joyous evening.  And creative, too.

Until tomorrow. . .

Enjoy!

“Let’s still be careful out there.”
